Ontario Government Introduces New Legislation To Reduce Red Tape For Businesses

Ontario government introduces new legislation to reduce red tape for businesses

This is the latest in a series of efforts by the province to cut bureaucracy

The legislation, which was introduced by Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction Nina Tangri, includes a number of measures to make it easier for businesses to operate in Ontario.

These measures include reducing the number of required permits and licenses, streamlining the process for starting a business, and making it easier for businesses to access government services.

The legislation is part of the government's broader red tape reduction strategy, which has already resulted in the passage of 10 high-impact red tape reduction bills since 2018.

The government says that these efforts have saved businesses in Ontario an estimated $1 billion in compliance costs.

The new legislation is expected to receive royal assent in the coming weeks and come into force shortly thereafter.

Businesses in Ontario are encouraged to review the legislation and identify opportunities to reduce their own red tape burden.
