Nebraska Battered by Destructive Tornadoes

Multiple Tornadoes wreak Havoc in Central and Eastern Parts of the State

Lincoln, NE - A series of tornadoes tore through Nebraska on Friday, April 26th, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. One of the first tornadoes of the day touched down in central Nebraska, with AccuWeather Storm Chaser eyewitnessing the devastating scene.

The National Weather Service in Valley issued a tornado watch until 7 pm for all of central and eastern Nebraska. A tornado was spotted on the ground in southeast Nebraska, prompting several warnings for the western portions of the Omaha area.

Multiple tornadoes were reported near Lincoln and the Omaha metro, causing significant damage and prompting residents to seek shelter. The tornadoes crossed Interstate 80, causing traffic disruptions and leaving behind downed power lines and debris.

The extent of the damage is still being assessed, but initial reports indicate widespread destruction, including damaged homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Emergency crews are on the scene assisting with cleanup efforts and providing aid to those affected.

Residents are urged to stay informed about weather conditions and follow safety precautions. If a tornado warning is issued, seek shelter immediately in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
